Dr. Laura Segal, a specialist in cornea and external disease, is currently an associate professor of Ophthalmology at University of Montreal. 
Dr. Laura Segal completed medical school and her residency in ophthalmology at McGill University. She then completed a one-year subspecialty fellowship program at the University of Montreal, where she was trained in state-of-the-art techniques in the fields of cornea and external disease. She has received several awards during her training, including the Jane Redpath Prize for the highest average in the McGill Faculty of Science. During her residency, she scored in the 97th and 98th percentile on two consecutive years in the annual examination designed to measure the ophthalmic knowledge of residents, relative to their peers in North America.

Dr. Segal currently works at the Verdun Hospital as well as at Notre Dame Hospital, where she teaches ophthalmologists-in-training and medical students as part of the University of Montreal Hospital Center (CHUM). She also helps train the resident doctors in cataract surgery. She has presented at several national scientific conferences, and was first author to a number of scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals.

Dr. Segal performs cataract surgery, corneal transplants, as well as other ocular surface procedures. She welcomes consultation requests from ophthalmologists, optometrists and non-eye care professionals. Dr. Segal is well known for putting the patients first, and is a firm believer in patient-centered care.
