Dr. Karin Oliver

Educational Background
Dr. Oliver earned a bachelor of science degree with distinction at Queen’s University before completing her medical degree at the University of Toronto, where she graduated with honours. Afterwards, Dr. Oliver returned to her hometown of Montreal, Quebec where she completed a residency in ophthalmology at McGill University before undergoing a year of fellowship training in ocular inflammatory disease and uveitis at the University of Montreal.
Professional Experience
Dr. Oliver is a skilled physician with experience treating a variety of ocular conditions such as glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeneration. At Œil Santé MD, Dr. Oliver’s clinical focus is general ophthalmology with an emphasis on glaucoma. She also practices at MUHC’s McGill Academic Eye Centre, where she specializes in treating uveitis.
In addition, Dr. Oliver is currently a Faculty Lecturer in the Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences at McGill University’s faculty of medicine, where she is actively involved in teaching medical students and residents. Dr. Oliver’s research interests include treatment modalities for non-infectious intermediate and posterior uveitis as well as the treatment of ocular surface inflammatory disorders. She’s had the opportunity to lecture on and present her research on both a national and international level.
Accomplishments and Awards
Dr. Oliver is an accomplished researcher whose work has been featured in a number of academic journals, such as Investigative Ophthalmology & Visual Science and the Canadian Journal of Ophthalmology. She is also an article reviewer for the uveitis section of the Canadian Journal of Ophthalmology. In addition, Dr. Oliver has presented at a variety of conferences, including the Canadian Ophthalmic Society Annual Meeting.
Her work has also been recognized through various awards. In 2021, Dr. Oliver was named the recipient of McGill University’s “Best Clinical Teacher” in the Department of Ophthalmology. Prior to this, she was awarded the Sydney Aiken Award in Ophthalmology by the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Ophthalmology. She also received Dr. F.J. Colling, OBE Memorial Scholarship from the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Medicine two years in a row, which celebrates high academic standing.
